The 14th annual Classic Wine Trophy takes place from the 5th-8th of March 2012. Hosted by the Table Bay Hotel at the Victoria & Waterfront, the Classic Wine Trophy stands out from other competitions in that the wine entries are adjudicated by a panel of French judges.
The competition is to be held this year with the sponsorship and support of Darnajou and Gillet coopers, Verallia glass of France and the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town. The competition will be covered internationally by leading french publication La Revue du Vin de France and adds to its list of judges Benoit Prevost,wine master and technical director of Michel Rolland Vineyards and Cellars in France.
The purpose of the Classic Wine Trophy is to recognize, reward and promote wines of elegance, balance and finesse with the ability to age well. The Classic Wine Trophy is committed to upholding the highest standards in this unique celebration of South African wine and the trophies are only awarded to the most iconic entries: wines made with patience and excellence.
The blind tasting of wines entered takes place over four days at The Table Bay Hotel at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. The winners and media will be invited to a dinner and awards ceremony held on Friday, 9th March 2012 at the Table Bay’s Pavilion venue.
