One of only three golf clubs in the world set amongst working vineyards and a winery (the others being Steenberg and Wente in California), the De Zalze Golf Course winds around the vineyards of the Kleine Zalze estate, criss-crossing the Blaauwklippen River. The De Zalze Golf Course, which opened to the public at the beginning of December 2000, has already become one of the premier golf estates in South Africa. The course was host to the World Amateur Championship in conjunction with the Stellenbosch Golf Club and the Eisenhower Trophy (for men), and the Espirito Santo Trophy (for women) in 2006. The 18-hole course, designed by Peter Matkovich, has an excellent mix of parkland holes, which places maximum premium on accuracy. The Clubhouse, built in a classic Cape Dutch design, is blessed with some of the most spectacular views of vineyards and mountains.
