Why not try your hand at a game of boules (also known as petanque). For those in the know, the Uitkyk boules piste offers a unique gaming opportunity in the winelands.

Its free and its fun! We supply the equipment and a set of rules, and you get in on the action, even while indulging the palate!

The beauty of boules is that anyone aged from 7 to 90 can play the game. The rules are extremely simple, the most important being:
  • The boules must always be thrown underarm
  • The players' feet must always remain in the circle/behind the start line until the boule touches the ground.

    • The prepared surface on Uitkyk is suited to the casual player and to disabled visitors.

  • Uitkyk is situated on the R44, between Stellenbosch and Paarl, against the slopes of Simonsberg.
  • From Stellenbosch, drive in the direction of Paarl and proceed for 8.5km.
  • From the N1, take the Klapmuts turn-off and proceed for 7.1km
    •
