Season's greetings from Cape Legends.
A hundred connoisseurs gathered at Franschhoek wine estate Plaisir de Merle to celebrate 10 of the best-of-best wines in the Cape Legends portfolio, paired with a dazzling 10-course menu devised by celebrated chef Vanie Padayachee of African Relish in Prince Albert, South Africa’s first school dedicated to culinary tourism.

Vanie created an interesting and provocative but delicious meal for the annual glittering occasion called a Night of a Thousand Glasses.

Marinated and deep-fried quail with passion fruit vinaigrette was served with Uitkyk’s Sauvignon Blanc 2010, Stellenzicht Semillon Reserve 2009 accompanied poached Alaskan crab claw with bouillabaisse sauce and Plaisir de Merle Malbec 2008 was matched with warthog and chorizo hot pot in a creamy butter curry sauce.
