The Tale of Asara's Nouveau
published on: 04 May 2012      source: Asara

Asara, the Wine Estate and Hotel destination nestled in the heart of the famous Cape winelands area, has produced something rather extraordinary in its cellar.
The story of the Beaujolais...

Beaujolais Nouveau is a red wine produced from Gamay grapes in the Beaujolais region of France. The wine has an almost cult-like following and is France's most popular vin de primeur. Fermented for just a few weeks, this popular wine is released as the clock strikes midnight on the third Thursday of November. According to law the wine is not allowed to be released before this time, so the famous "Beaujolais Nouveau Day" sees much festivity and heavy marketing as producers compete to get the first bottles around the globe as quickly as possible.

Guests will now be able to sample Asara's own take on the elusive Beaujolais Nouveau, produced from Gamay grapes grown at the farm. The wine is a vibrant purple-red hue and is intended not as a keepsake, but rather to be enjoyed shortly after purchase to experience the fresh and fruity flavours to best advantage. The Nouveau's label design is reminiscent of Warhol's famous pop art portraits of Marilyn Monroe, is beautifully bottled and available in six different colour screw-caps, making it an ideal gift. Nouveau is also the first certified 2012 red wine to be bottled in South Africa this year.

Asara's Nouveau is available at R50 a bottle.
