Full Programme for the 8th Winter Wine Festival

The 8th Winter Wine Festival at High Street Shopping Village in Durbanville takes place from Thursday, 21 June to Saturday, 23 June and offers visitors a full programme of activities aimed at ensuring a relaxing and interactive visit.
We start on Thursday with a live broadcast by popular Afrikaans music station Bok Radio, which will open the festival.

Over and above the selection of wines from all over South Africa and even South America and Europe to taste and buy, visitors will be seduced into tasting the hand-made food items and fresh produce in our market, have a rest and something warm to eat in one of two food courts, listen to live music and have free access to the wine theatre presented by The Cape Wine Academy.

The programme of three tutored tastings per day include the Bovlei Mad Hatter’s range which will be paired with mini-hamburgers, a chocolate and wine pairing with Durbanville Hills, a fortified wine, Port and brandy tasting, a Pinot Noir/Pinotage taste-off and the special presentations by the Chilean team of Concha y Toro.

“For the first time this year we are including wines from Chile and Italy, and our restaurants and food exhibitors are gearing up with tummy-warming dishes, food and wine pairings as well as “street snacks” so as to get back to the tastings!” says Elize Walters, PR and Marketing Manager of Propergation Estates, presenters of the Festival.

25 wineries and 25 food stalls make this the place to be during the cold winter months. Although predominantly red wines, ports, brandies and dessert wines are presented for tasting in keeping with the theme, many wineries include bubblies and white wines.

On-site sales are encouraged and storage areas are offered from where purchases can easily be transferred to the parking areas.

Ticket prices are R80 pp when bought on-line and R90 pp at the door. Pensioners’ and group tickets (10+) cost R70 pp, when bought on-line. Tickets are available a via the High Street Shopping Village face book page, or from www.ticketbreak.co.za or at the door during the festival.

Round Table Durbanville are the beneficiaries.
