Cut deep into the slopes of the Papegaaiberg on the outskirts of Stellenbosch, Die Bergkelder opened officially in 1968 as the first bottle maturation cellar of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Home to award-winning Fleur du Cap wines, shaped by the rich biodiversity and abundant, yet subtle flavours of the Cape Floral Kingdom, this famous "cellar in the mountain" offers visitors an intimate experience with the wines and their origins.

Amble freely though the tranquil cellar spaces during tours and tastings, where thousands of bottles patiently lie in waiting. Carved oak barrels in the vaulted Fleur du Cap Room depict the history of South Africa winemaking. The Laszlo Room, dedicated to the visionary cellarmaster Dr. Julius Laszlo, who played a pivotal role in changing the face of the South African wine industry in the 80s, takes pride of place for private tastings. Continue your walk down memory lane in the Wine Museum Located next to the Fine Wine Shop in the Wine Centre.
