tasting notes
Faithful Hound is a Bordeaux-style blend made from 41% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Malbec, and 12% Cabernet Franc. The nose offers concentrated plum and dark berry fruits, with some mineral and cigar-box nuances. Lush textures on the palate and soft tannins on the finish make this a very well made and elegant wine. The Faithful Hound label was created to honor the dog Bos ("Bushy" in Afrikaans; he was rather large and terribly hairy), who kept a 7-year watch over Mulderbosch farm after his owner passed away and the farm was abandoned. He keeps his vigil over the farm from under the apple tree, where he was buried several years ago.
