De Krans Wine Cellar is situated along the upper reaches of the picturesque Gamka River Valley near Calitzdorp. The history of the farm dates back to 1890, when it was bought by the Nel family. Since 1985, most of the classic Portuguese Port and wine varieties have been planted. The present owners and cellar master are brothers Boets (who qualified as a Cape Wine Matser in 1997) and Stroebel Nel - the viticulturist.

De Krans Pink Port NV
De Krans Pink Port is made from traditional port varieties Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barocca and Souzão. The lovely blush colour was acquired by allowing only a few hours skin contact and the juice then cool-fermented for approximately 5 days before fortification with unmatured brandy spirit. The result is a port with a lovely vibrant blush colour, rich ripe flavours of fresh red berries and a long, lingering aftertaste.
This new style of port is aimed at all port lovers that will enjoy this wonderful freshness and flavour spectrum all year round.
Serving suggestions
:
Enjoy well-chilled, or on crushed ice in summer as an aperitif with nuts and olives. In the cooler months of the year, this port can also be served at room temperature with olives, nuts or any pâté of your choice.
Alc: 19 RS: 75 pH: 3.8 TA: 5.0 VA: SO2: FSO2:
De Krans Vintage Reserve Port 2006
The wine shows a vibrant plum colour, with dense aromas of prune, spice and tobacco. A fleshy, chewy mouthful of flavours, showing tannic grip, concentrated red fruit nuances, and a firm structure ensuring considerable longevity.
Alc: 19.0 RS: 92.0 pH: 3.6 TA: 5.5 VA: SO2: FSO2:
De Krans Red Stone Reserve 2006
Both varieties were picked at optimum ripeness. After a 24 hour cold- soaking, each wine was fermented separately and pressed. As soon as alcoholic fermentation was finished, the blend was made. After malo-lactic fermentation, it was matured for 10 months in 50% new and 50% first-fill French Oak barrels.
Alc: 14.0 RS: 3.8 pH: 3.8 TA: 5.7 VA: SO2: FSO2:
De Krans Cape Vintage Port 2007
A fine, full-flavoured classic port, with rich coffee/chocolaty flavours and complex structure, which should improve for a further 10 years or more.
Alc: 19.0 RS: 93.0 pH: 3.4 TA: 5.6 VA: SO2: FSO2:
De Krans Cape Tawny Port NV
Lovely coppery-gold colour. Flavours of coffee-toffee, hazelnut, cinnamon spice, as well as some raisins in the background. Good, long finish and excellent grip at 19.5% alcohol.
Alc: 19.0 RS: 104 pH: 3.8 TA: 5.2 VA: SO2: FSO2:
