De Trafford Winery is situated on the beautiful Mont Fleur farm set at the top of a dramatic valley above Stellenbosch, 380 metres up between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountains. The property is owned and run by the Trafford family with a small team of dedicated workers who take great care to produce properly ripe fruit from well balanced, manicured vineyards. All wines are fermented with natural yeasts, pressed with a traditional basket press and allowed to develop with the minimum of handling in small oak barrels before being bottled (most often) unfiltered.

De Trafford Chenin Blanc 2008 De Trafford Chenin Blanc 2008
The nose is a little closed at first, evolving in the glass to show a honeyed botrytis character with baked apple, wet stones, damp hay and a hint of spicy oak. Needs a little air to bring out the inherent richness on the palate. Nicely structured with a balance between the botrytis richness and the racy minerality. A long clean finish.

Attractive ruby colour. Spicy raspberry core on the nose with subtle nuances of herbs; flowers; tobacco and forest floor. An elegant, restrained palate with firm, fine tannins and fresh, savoury fruit flavours.

Attractive deep red colour. Quite aromatic with dark cherry and plum fruit complimented with white pepper, floral, nutty and herbal notes. Full, elegant palate packed with complex fruit and soft, ripe tannins. Finely textured with a long, dry finish. Probably best between mid 2007 & 2015. Ideal with a variety of herb or spice infused meat dishes.

De Trafford Elevation 393 2004 De Trafford Elevation 393 2004
Impressive deep red / purple colour. Smoky blackcurrant and spicy fruitcake aromas. Already well knit structure with dense tannins and rich, complex fruit. Lovely texture. Probably best between 2008 and 2015. Low sulphites could qualify for an organic wine. Ideal with rich, roasted or grilled red meat dishes.

Attractive deep red colour. Rich red berry and cherry fruit with beguiling savoury earthiness, nuts and spices. These flavours follow through on the palate with plenty of fine tannins and a classic long, dry finish. Probably best between 2008 and 2015. Ideal with rich pasta and various meat dishes
