Beaumont in the Walker Bay area has been described as one of the most characterful wineries in the Cape. The small, rustic cellar is situated on the historic Compagnes Drift Farm in the village of Bot River at the foot of the Houwhoek Mountains. Its history goes back to the 1700s, when it was a trading outpost of the Dutch East India Company.

Beaumont Chenin Blanc 2008 Beaumont Chenin Blanc 2008
Colour: Vibrant, fresh.
Nose: Green melon, golden delicious apple & delicate apricot blossom aromas.
Palate: Fresh green apple, pineapple flavours with a hint of wood spice. Good balanced acidity keeps the weight of the wine fresh with great length.

Alc: 13.5  RS: 2.2  pH: 3.09  TA: 6.8  VA:  SO2:  FSO2:
Beaumont Hope Marguerite 2007 Beaumont Hope Marguerite 2007
Colour: Fresh green glint.
Nose: Dried apricot, green melon and a delicate cinnamon spice.
Palate: Hints of ripe green apple, dried apricot and almond on mid palate. Well integrated oak with limey freshness and a lingering rich finish.
Description: Only fruit selected from our oldest chenin vineyards is used for this wine. 100% barrel fermented in 400L French oak using only natural yeasts. No malo lactic fermentation keeps the freshness. This wine remained on its gross lees for 10 months with regular batonage. It is unfined and only given a light filtration prior to bottling. A good food wine that promises ageing ability.

Alc: 13.5  RS: 7.7  pH: 3.11  TA: 6.4  VA:  SO2:  FSO2:
Beaumont Pinotage 2006 Beaumont Pinotage 2006
Colour: Deep red, violet tones.
Nose: Intense Pinotage fruit, plummy red berry aromas.
Palate: Supremely elegant fruit driven palate backed by rich grainy tannins.
Description: Still a young wine, but I really like the potential and the way it has opened up over the last few months after bottling. Harvested between early February and late March from 80% old blocks. Taken to barrel for 14 months in 25% American oak and the remainder in French oak. 35% new oak was selected for the final wine.

Alc: 14  RS: 2.7  pH: 3.62  TA: 5.6  VA:  SO2:  FSO2:
Beaumont Shiraz 2004 Beaumont Shiraz 2004
Colour: Dark red and violet.
Nose: A combination of dark berry and savoury spice aromas with a hint of tobacco leaf.
Palate: Big, rich, sweet fruit, spice, pepper, long finish of ripe tannins, an altogether very full, balanced wine.
Description: The first time we have blended in 4% Mourvedre. A complex wine from three different vineyard sites gives character to this Rhone-style Shiraz. Good colour, spicy fruit and pepper on the nose and flavours of berry fruit with fine ripe tannins on the finish make this an elegant wine. 80% French oak, 20% American and 25% of total in new barrels.

Alc: 14.5  RS: 2.6  pH: 3.62  TA: 5.6  VA:  SO2:  FSO2:
