The Zonnebloem Story
The history of Zonnebloem, one of South Africa's oldest wine brands, dates back to the early part of the 18th century, when wines were already being produced on the Zonnebloem farm at Simondium. During 1930 the focus switched to white wines, but fortunately in 1940 John de Villiers, the owner at the time, put his expertise into making red wines again. more »

Winemaking Team: Bonnie van Niekerk - Red Winemaker
Van Niekerk first joined the team as assistant winemaker in 2005, after completing her Diploma in Cellar Technology with a distinction at Elsenburg Agricultural College. Two years later, she secured the position as red winemaker at the cellar. more »

Winemaking Team: Annelie Viljoen - Viticulturist/Grape Buyer
Even though all her classmates wanted to become winemakers while completing her Honours degree in Oenology and Viticulture at Stellenbosch University, Annelie Viljoen, newly appointed viticulturist at the Adam Tas cellar and the first woman grape buyer to be appointed by Distell, chose the vineyards and the prospect of working outdoors over a career in the cellar. more »
