The urban sprawl of Stellenbosch comes to an abrupt halt, in its south-western suburb of Onderpapegaai, when you enter the gates of Middelvlei. Suddenly, before you lies a beautiful vineyard-strewn amphitheatre overlooking the Bottelary Hills and the upper reaches of Devon Valley. Our well-tended vineyards
Under the Momberg's watchful eye the mature vineyards are kept in prime condition, while new plantings are carefully selected to suit the terroir. The body and backbone contributed by the mature vines are complemented by fresh fruitiness derived from more recent plantings. more »
Our cellar practices
Built in 1941, the Middelvlei cellar was extended in 1999 by the addition of a maturation facility for 900 small barrels. Although Tinnie shares his father's firm belief in traditional winemaking methods, the cellar boasts a combination of both traditional equipment and new technology. more »

Our welcoming committee
Varieties not in our vineyards and wines not in our cellar can be found moving around on four legs. This means that on arrival, you will be welcomed by a tail-wagging pack consisting of the hospitable Dachshund Pinotage, Chianti the Blümmenweiler and Alsace the Boerboel pup. Tinta, the gentle Great Dane and the Ridgeback, aptly named Malbec, complete the welcoming committee. more »
