Horse Riding for Handicapped Children
Maryke lives on Kaapzicht Estate, she has a heart for horses and children: after rescuing several horses and ponies from animal welfare she trained them for riding sessions with handicapped and traumatized children. Several times a week horses and handicapped children enjoy each other's company in Kaapzicht's beautiful nature. See more about Maryke's project on Facebook: Haven of Hope Equine Aid Centre.

Kaapzicht After-School-Club (ASC)
When Pebbles introduced us to the idea of starting an After-School-Club in the hall next door to the Kindergarden it made perfect sense: instead of hanging around in the afternoons, being bored and tempted to try out drugs and do nonsense, our ~ 45 school children are now being helped with their school work by 2 teachers who come to us from town every afternoon.

Kaapzicht celebrated the opening of the soccer world cup
On Friday afternoon, 11th June 2010, Kaapzicht celebrated the opening of the soccer world cup and the start of the first match between South Africa and Mexico. We surprised our workers by handing them not only their payslip, but also a yellow Bafana-Bafana T-shirt (our National Soccer team's colours) and instead of sending them home after a week's work, we invited them to watch the opening ceremony live on a big screen in our hall.

Kaapzicht Kindergarten
In 2008 I was approached by the charity organisation "Pebbles", who do wonderful social work on farms. They offered to help us get the Kindergarten going again by sponsoring all the new furniture and toys and games and by taking over the responsibility of training and monitoring 2 young ladies from the midst of our own community as new Kindergarten teachers.
