Winelands Festival Toasts Workers
More than 5000 Cape music enthusiasts joined over 100 uniquely South African performers including Mango Groove, Emo Adams and Die Heuwels Fantasties and a host of home-grown performers at this year's sixth annual ATKV Franschhoek Oesfees. The annual event, which takes place in association with the ATKV (Afrikaanse Taal en Kultuurvereniging), took place at the Solms-Delta wine estate on Saturday 23 March.

Solms Delta Oesfees
Again, 5000 people streamed in to the annual Oesfees at Solms Delta. It was a very windy day and many people were turned away at the gate as it was full.

Father's Day at Fyndraai June 2011
Father's Day on Sunday 19 June at Fyndraai was a fun affair! It was a cold day outside but warm and cozy indoors. The day was the start of their Sunday Winter Buffet Lunch * The buffet appeals to the whole family as it includes traditional hearty Kaapsekos such as gebraaideaartappel, lamb bredie, roast chicken * The buffet is R125 per person and kids under 12yrs R60. On the 19th Dad got a free glass of Solms-Astor Langarm with his meal and a brilliant special on Solms-Delta Hiervandaan in the tasting room next door!

Khoi and Bushman reconciliation ceremony at Solms-Delta
On Friday 17 and Saturday 18 June 2011 a unique ceremony of reconciliation took place on Solms-Delta Estate. A direct descendent of those ancient San and Khoi kings, Khoebaha Cornelius, leader of a Royal House of the Khoisan, presided over a moving event in which the memories of the injustices suffered by his people in this part of the Western Cape were washed away. It was in some ways a re-enactment of the proceedings of the TRC, as history was retold by its victims in the presence of the perpetrators. However, as the King pointed out, the difference was that Mark Solms had asked the ancestors of the Khoi people to forgive the evils that had happened in the past (something that Archbishop Tutu has been trying to persuade all white South Africans to do.) The King also thanked Mark Solms for the part that he has played in rescuing and reviving the culture of the Khoi people, saying, "You can't change the past, but you can rectify the present."

2011 Delta Draf
On Tuesday, April 26, the clouds gathered and unseasonably early snow fell on the mountains round Franschhoek. The organizers of the Delta Draf, scheduled for Saturday, April 30, looked at the snow-capped peaks and wondered if they should change the Delta Draf to something else. Maybe the Delta Downhill Skiing Competition? But Saturday dawned bright and sunny and 611 eager runners turned up to compete in what is now a very popular, recognized event in the Boland Athletics calendar.
