The third annual Delta Draf will be held on Saturday 28 April 2012 on Solms-Delta wine estate near Franschhoek.
Organized by the Dwars River Valley Athletics Club this off-road race – 10km and 5km fun run - rates as one of the most scenic on the running calendar. It follows a route through working vineyards and along the banks of the Dwars River, set against the backdrop of the majestic Groot and Klein Drakenstein mountains.
There will be medals for all finishers and fun spot prizes. The estate’s red hint-of-sweet sparkler, Cape Jazz Shiraz, will be on offer at most water stops and live Cape rural music from the farm bands will play the runners on their way and add to the wonderful country atmosphere of this race.
Traditional, Kaapsekos food stalls will offer, amongst other things, lekka Fyndraai burger and chips, chicken roti and curry and rice, for a hearty post-race breakfast. Or pre-order a continental breakfast picnic basket or lunch basket from Fyndraai restaurant, to enjoy with your family after the race under the oaks, or down by the river.
Make the most of your day out in the Winelands and before heading home, pop into the Museum van de Caab where wine tasting is available and learn more about the history of the Valley, or book one of the many farm tours available.
