Fresh face for Laborie Still Wines
10 May 2012  by Laborie
Enjoying a good bottle of wine is one of life's true delights and Laborie knows this. Producing the finest wines since 1691, Laborie offers a collection of wines set to indulge wine-lovers around South Africa.
Bursting with flavour and soft on the palate these wines are the perfect accompaniment to any get-together-relaxing at home with friends or when celebrating those life changing moments such as a wedding or a promotion at work.

The collection of wines includes a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

“To add to the premium offering of the wines the packaging has been updated to reflect a bold and distinguished exterior with subtle cues reflecting the French Heritage of the brand”, says Cobus van Graan, General Manager at Laborie. “The complete ranges of red wines are now available in screw caps following the white wines. The first three wines available with the new look is the Merlot 2010, the Sauvignon Blanc 2011 and the Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon 2010.

The new packaging of the Merlot 2010 and the Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 are available with labels to retain the distinctive burgundy colour of the existing packs but with more defined touches of gold. The Laborie logo has been moved to be embossed on the actual bottle underneath the Laborie crest. The cap is a metallic black colour with the addition of printed detail taken from the Laborie crest with a gold Laborie band around the neck of the bottle.

The quality of the wines reflects Laborie’s focus in the vineyard and the cellar. The Merlot and Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon have upfront blackberry, blackcurrant, black cherry and plum aromas with hints of spice. These wines are balanced on the palate and smooth with concentrated, juicy fruit with a persistent aftertaste. The Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon.

These wines are best enjoyed on its own or with a variety of lamb or cold meat dishes and can be enjoyed for one to two years from vintage.

The Sauvignon Blanc 2011 follows the same design innovation with the addition of a dark green label. This full flavoured wine has aromas of bell pepper, fig and gooseberry complimented by fresh minerality and hints of passion fruit. The wine is fresh, well balanced and concentrated with a crisp, lingering finish on the palate. It can be enjoyed now and for the next two years on its own or with a salmon salad, fresh fish and sushi.

“These wines can be enjoyed on their own or as an accompaniment to a variety of dishes. Pairing these wines with food will ensure a delicious experience that will indulge all the senses”, concludes van Graan.

Available in all major retail outlets the Merlot 2010 retails at a RSP of R57.95, Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon at a RSP of R57.95 and the Sauvignon Blanc 2011 at R41.95.
