KWV shines at the WSWA awards
11 May 2012  by KWV
KWV is, once again, proud to announce their strong competitive ship on the international front. The brand won the most medals during the 2012 annual convention of the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) Wine and Spirits Tasting Competition.
KWV dominated the convention and at the end of the judging process they were awarded four gold medals. The exquisite blends, KWV Classic – 2011 Chenin Blanc and KWV Classic – 2011 Chardonnay, received gold medals, while the African Passion – 2011 Chardonnay received double gold. (African Passion – Chenin blanc and Wild Africa Cream was also awarded gold medals)

Both the KWV African Passion – Cabernet Sauvignon and KWV Classic – 2010 Shiraz, were awarded a silver medal.

“We have been introducing the American consumer to the flexibility and the range of our wine making and spirits production capabilities in South Africa,” said David Salmon, KWV U.S. Regional Director. “Our company has a long standing history in South Africa and has been focused on high-quality, high-value products for decades,” Salmon said. “Our viticulturists work closely with grape growers throughout South Africa to achieve consistency and quality.”

KWV’s wines have been receiving more recognition within the international markets lately and earlier this year the KWV Classic Chardonnay 2010 was ranked no.1 by Germany’s most influential wine magazine, Weinwirtshaft. Securing a position on this list is not only based on the tasting of wines but also on the wines’ retail and consumption figures in Germany.

“Receiving these awards is a true accolade to the quality and standard of wines produced within South-Africa and more specifically within the KWV stable”, concludes Salmon.
