Greetings from a beautifully misty, cloud-clad Breede River Valley! With the hectic harvest activities something of the past, our vineyards are slumbering peacefully in their winter hibernation. In the cellar we are busy preparing our 2012 whites for bottling, while our reds are being transferred to oak barrels for maturation.

Meanwhile, we have launched an exciting new wine range which is taking the market by storm.

Haven Point - wines that care

There's a special reason why our recently launched, super premium range is so highly sought-after among wine lovers. Haven Point is a Fair Trade-certified range which means that a portion of the proceeds is ploughed back into the upliftment of the employees and the environment. The globally recognised Fair Trade certification system focuses on decent working conditions, local sustainability and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. Since the launch of the Fair Trade stamp in 2002, it has become the most widely-recognised ethical endorsement in the world. Indeed, more and more people are becoming aware of what is behind Fair Trade and why the stamp is important.

While Haven Point Fair Trade wines appeal especially to those with a social conscience, they certainly also reward the discerning connoisseur.

The range presently comprises three outstanding wines. The 2012 Haven Point Pinot Gris tempts with enticing aromas of rose petal which leads to a feast of fresh, lingering fruit flavours. What makes the unique 2012 Haven Point Viognier Shiraz stand out is the fact that it is a white wine, combining exhilarating flavours of red berries and fragrant pear with a hint of spice. The third in the range is the 2011 Haven Point Shiraz which delights with luscious berry fruit, thrilling dark chocolate and piquant spice. Good news is the fact that the range will soon be extended to include a Sauvignon Blanc (2012) and a Pinotage (2011).

Thus, by purchasing Haven Point, the consumer not only enjoys superior quality, but also contributes to the fight against global poverty and trade injustice.
