the company of wine people appoints new MD

The company of wine people is pleased to announce that Eduan Steynberg has been appointed as its Managing Director, following in the footsteps of Hermann Böhmer.
After graduating as a CA with Coopers & Lybrand, Eduan joined a division of Foodcorp, one of the three largest listed food companies on the JSE. After reaching the level of financial director, he left to pursue a career in general management as GM of the Milling Division of Sefalana Group in Botswana.

Following this he joined Derek Brink holdings, the second largest privately owned business in Botswana, as CEO where he managed the commercial side of the business. During his years at the company, it developed from a primary production entity to one with substantial holdings in retail.

On his return to South Africa, he joined GWK Limited in Douglas, a R1.2 billion business. In the past three years, Eduan has satisfied his entrepreneurial curiosity through setting up an investment entity focussed on trade with India.

Says Steynberg of this next chapter in his career, “I see this as a huge opportunity to be part of a business that has repositioned itself to enhance its position as one of the leading wine businesses in South Africa.”
