The annual Bosman Wine Release is set for Monday, 24th of September.
This date marks Heritage Day and is also the day before Cape Wine 2012
The annual Bosman Wine Release, a tasteful and stylish event on the 8th generation Bosman family estate, Lelienfontein, has grown into a sought after affair on the Cape wine event calendar. This marks the annual release of new vintages from Bosman Family Vineyards which this year includes the ABSA Perold Cape Blend winner, the Bosman Erfenis 2010, the Bosman Pinotage 2010, the Bosman Optenhorst Chenin Blanc 2011 and an exclusive release for Bosman Family Wine Club Members will also be launched on the day.
On the day, the entire 250 year old cellar is transformed into a tasting journey of refined wines paired with delicious canapés. Part of this tasting journey is a fascinating vine grafting display by the family vine nursery, Lelienfontein Vine Growers. The process of vine grafting is a skill that has been practiced since 1888 at Lelienfontein and visitors find the relatively unknown process of vine grafting highly informative.
Apart from the wine tasting journey, guests are also treated to lunch, enjoyed outside under ancient oak trees on the estate’s verdant lawns.
The 2012 Bosman Release is also an official event of the WOSA Cape Wine 2012 Exhibition. International delegates attending Cape Wine and the Bosman Wine Release Weekend will be treated to a focussed theatre session conducted and facilitated by Bosman Family Vineyards winemaker, Corlea Fourie and managing director, Petrus Bosman. The theatre session will touch on the ageing potential of Chenin Blanc, innovations from the cellar and the social and environmental impact through Fairtrade initiatives.
An area manned by trained crèche staff looks after the entertainment of smaller children in order to give parents a time to relax and enjoy Heritage Day to the full.
Tickets are available at Computicket.com at R300 per person, children free of charge. The day begins at 11h00 until 16h00.
The tasting journey will be open from 12h00 until 15h00, in the cellar.
Tickets are limited.
