Diam sales have now reached 100 million units and to cope with the increasing demand, Oeneo Closures has today announced significant upgrades to the production of Diam corks at their processing plant in Spain.
Oeneo Closure Division Commercial Manager Australasia & UK, Dean Banister said, “In my recent visit to Spain, I was most impressed with the upgrade of facilities. We now have new molding equipment and processing line dedicated to the production of Diam and nothing else. Previously, all technological cork produced by Oeneo shared the same production equipment with Diam. These changes will increase quality control and efficiency of everything we produce.”

In addition to these changes in production, Oeneo is currently achieving BRC (British Retail Consortium) accreditation at their plant in France as well as ISO 9001 (International Standard of Quality Management System) accreditation for the Spanish facility – The Oeneo finishing plants have already accumulated HACCP accreditation, Systecode and Bureau Verities, combined they give their sites the highest level of accreditation possible.

“Oeneo is constantly committed to improving our products. Diam has been widely accepted with significant sales growth initiated by the leadnig UK retailers, so we are always looking at new ways to improve our service to ensure optimum product performance,” comments Dean.

Along with TCA, TBA and the other chloranisoles, Oeneo has also recently identified that Diamant process is extracting over 150 other compounds, which contributes to improve organoleptic neutrality of Diam corks.

“Our scientists have long been aware that we removed other characters from the cork granular in this process but the first task was to identify these compounds and then to measure them.”

“This is just another example of Oeneo’s ongoing commitment to ensure that its closures are supplied to the market with the highest quality specification, over-exceeding our previous commitment to attain below the detectable limits of TCA in Diam, less than 0.5ng/l. The finished research conducted by Oeneo and the publication “La Revue des Oenologues” will be published in July,” Dean concluded.
