2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer

The Soccer World Cup has grown from its beginning in 1930 to become one of the greatest sporting events in the world. Well over a billion people are expected to follow the month long tournament between the world's top soccer playing nations.

Association for Responsible Alcohol Use (ARA)
ARA was established by major manufacturers in 1989 with current members such as SAB, SALBA (Distell, Brandhouse, KWV, DGB etc) VinPro, Wine Cellars SA. We aim to reduce alcohol-related harm through combating the misuse and abuse of alcohol beverages, and promoting only their responsible use. The ARA is registered as a non-profit organisation that self-regulates the marketing activities of member companies which include alcohol beverage manufacturers, distributors and retailers. We work in partnership with the government, public health bodies and other relevant stakeholders to combat the misuse and abuse of alcohol. We focus on educating consumers on the risks of alcohol misuse and abuse and on the responsible use of alcohol beverages.

Although South Africa is counted amongst the New World wine producers, the first grapes were pressed for wine at the Cape, nearly 350 years ago,in 1659 under Jan van Riebeeck. He had come to the Cape in 1652 to establish a settlement on behalf of the Dutch East India Company.
