Raats Family Wines are specialists in the crafting of exceptional wines from Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc.

It is their mission to consistently produce Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc of outstanding quality from South Africa and to establish these wines as international benchmarks.

The Raats family lives for and dreams about these two varieties and passionately produces wines they believe are truly distinct from old vineyards in the Stellenbosch area east of Cape Town. They have earned a reputation internationally as a New World leader in the production of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc.

Raats launches flagship Chenin Blanc
21 August 2008  by Peridot Communications
Chenin master Bruwer Raats is releasing his latest offering from the Raats Family Wines label this month. The 2007 Raats Chenin Blanc promises to follow in the footsteps of its highly acclaimed predecessors, which has received over 90 points in Wine Spectator magazine for four consecutive years.
This sublime vintage shows the complexity of the Chenin varietal to perfection with a rich intensity that strikes a finely-honed balance between elegance and power. Crafted from grapes sourced from three distinct old vine parcels, the 2007 Raats Chenin Blanc offers luscious flavours of honeyed pear, butterscotch, citrus and ginger. These flavours are contrasted by hints of minerality and spice that leaves a seemingly endless finish on the palate.

The crisp acidity and rounded texture of the 2007 Raats Chenin Blanc can be ascribed to its barrel maturation for nine months and will match the more complex taste of dishes such as oysters with lime, duck with orange and game fish.
