Some time ago I agreed to conduct a South African wine tasting in
London for a group of food and wine enthusiasts. It was to be followed
by a dinner prepared by celebrity chef Alan Coxon and was part of a
package auctioned in the UK by Francois Pienaar as a fundraiser for his
Make-a-Difference (MAD) foundation. For the event I chose a number
of wines I believed illustrated the breadth and depth of potential of
Expecting that several of my preferred wines might not actually be available in the UK, I added several back-ups to the list. This turned out to be completely unnecessary. From La Motte to Simonsig, Tokara to Ken Forrester, Kanu to De Wetshof, whatever I wanted could be found.
