Produced at Uiterwyk Wine Estate

Uiterwyk (1682), situated in the cool Stellenbosch Hills, has been a De Waal family concern since 1864. The wines combine elegant Old World finesse and abundant New World fruit. This modest family caused quite a stir in 1998 by winning Wine Magazine's Champion Pinotage award with their single vineyard wine, the Top-of-the-Hill Pinotage, made from more than 50-year-old vines.

Five times ABSA Top 10 Pinotage. The competition has been running for ten years, with only three producers receiving the award five times or more.

Diners Club Winemaker of the Year 2002: Daniël de Waal for Pinotage.

The oldest Pinotage vineyard in the world: the Top of the Hill.

Five wines awarded 4 stars in the John Platter Wine Guide 2007.

DeWaal finds a Worthwhile agent in USA
09 February 2010  by DeWaal Wines
The USA remains the largest and most vibrant wine market in the world. DeWaal Wines has partnered with Worthwhile Wines and its founder Tom Lynch to distribute their award winning wines state-side.
"The challenge of entering the US market, which grew with 1.6% last year, is an exciting prospect," commented Pieter de Waal. "With the aid of strong and focused partners DeWaal is ready for its piece of the Big Apple."

The range available includes the terrific trio of Pinotage - Top of the Hill, CT de Waal and the DeWaal Black Label (the largest range of this uniquely African varietal to be imported to the US), the Signal Rock Blend, the unwooded Black Label Viognier and the fantastic value Young Vines range which includes a Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Shiraz!

States included for distribution are New York, Georgia, California, Florida and New Jersey.

"With the exposure around South Africa 2010 and the fabulous value that quality South African wine has to offer, this could become a fantastic year for DeWaal," commented Ryan Sowray, DeWaal's Brand Manager.
