With the Cape Town Book Fair (CTBF) kicking off this weekend on the 30th of July and running until the 2nd of August,
the wine brand is proud to confirm its ongoing support of South African literature as a sponsor of the CTBF opening event. The opening, which forms the platform for the launch of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu's illustrated children's storybook Bible, takes place on Friday, 30 July.
The launch will be open to the media and invited guests of the book trade, and will be telecast via satellite from the fair to participating publishing houses around the world.
"As a firm believer in the abundant literary talent South Africa possesses, Leopard's Leap is always proud to be associated with South African Literary events, however big or small," says Hein Koegelenberg, CEO of Leopard's Leap wines. "We are, however, particularly excited to be associated with the launch of the Archbishop's Children's Bible
which, we believe, will be an inspiration to generations of readers for many years to come."
Written by Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, and illustrated by artists from around the world, the Children of God - Storybook Bible has been translated into 12 languages, including Afrikaans, Sesotho, Setswana, Xhosa, Zulu, Italian, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
The Bible, which speaks to all races, genders, and cultures, conveys the message of the caring, loving God who celebrates all differences, emphasising the one family, rainbow character of the Kingdom of God. With Tutu's characteristically huge heart for children, as well as for the rainbow nation, it makes perfect sense for him to have written this Bible that everyone in the world will be able to relate to.
The Bible contains Tutu's version of 56 of the most loved stories for children from the Old and New Testaments and each story is illustrated in full colour by acclaimed international artists.
According to Lux Verbi, the publisher of Tutu's Bible, it has already generated much international interest, with about 17 international publishers having signed rights deals allowing them to translate, print and sell the Bible abroad.
