The question I am asked the most is : Why Wine? And my response to that is: Why not Wine. My passion with this path I undertook of wine was to challenge myself, the discipline of knowing more about the history of South African wines and the world abroad. The reason is that I knew or heard of no one pursuing this career.

Thus influencing me to seek this field, fortunately I was given a chance by Cape Wine Academy to study about wine. The effort and years given to history of wine is most amazing and interesting even to the novice. I graduated in 2013 as first level Sommelier (wine advisor) which was accredited by the University of Johannesburg.

In this line of work I’ve got to experience a lot of different personalities among those in the business, including people with knowledge of wine, people with an interest in the wine world and those new to the wine culture.
