Bennie Liebenberg joined the Spier wine team in 2019 as viticulturist, overseeing all vineyards across the Cape wine regions to source wine grapes for Spier’s top-tier wine ranges.
Raised in Paarl, Bennie completed his degree in winemaking and agriculture at the University of Stellenbosch and later completed a second degree in business.
He started his career at Stellenbosch Farmers’ Winery and went on to gain years of experience in a wide range of vineyards working for VinPro, Die Bergkelder and Nederburg. He was previously also viticulturist for brands such as Pongrácz and Fleur du Cap.
Bennie's focus on sustainability and minimising future climate change impacts go hand in hand with the need to produce high-quality grapes. A keen mountain biker, Bennie also enjoys relaxing with his family, cooking, gardening and a glass of good Spier wine.
