The month of May means it’s time to toast the 27th Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival taking place at Summer Place in Hyde Park. South Africa’s most exclusive, longest running festival showcasing the Cape’s finest wineries takes place on May 16 & 17, this year.

Much-fêted by the media for its tastings and talks by the industry’s cellar-celebs, South Africa’s most exclusive, longest running festival showcasing the Cape’s finest wineries takes place on May 16 & 17, this year.

Visitors can taste the latest vintages, discover dozens of quality labels, discuss everything from wine evolution to regional differences with leading producers, or simply learn how to distinguish a Chenin Blanc from a Chardonnay and discover the unique nuances found in wine regions.

Apart from the opportunity to meet winemakers and hear their stories, this year’s interactive experience will enable you to “take your palate on a voyage” and discover how colour, texture, and temperature affect your taste buds.

Says Juliet Cullinan: “Thanks to our 17-year sponsorship by Standard Bank, we’ve been able to further refine our commitment to satisfy palates and stimulate debate. This year should be our best yet, as small, select boutique wineries present innovative blends in an elegant, convivial setting.”

Visitors to the 27th Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival can expect unsurpassed social interaction with the country’s top cellar masters and producers in an up-market, intimate venue.

“The Festival’s philosophy has always been to showcase wines with a ‘sense of place’ with limited quantities of exceptional bottles. Our unique boutique wineries - a vitrine of the Cape’s finest cellars - are handpicked for their quality and distinction.  Most have excelled internationally, which accounts for the success and continued popularity of South Africa’s most coveted annual celebration.”
