After a long career as a fashion buyer, Ohna Mouton-Marais finally pursued her childhood artistic bent and became a portrait and figurative artist in 2000, hosting numerous joint and private exhibitions.
In 2012 she moved to Australia for a season, took a sabbatical and is now re-entering the art world with a new mission. Although a figurative artist, painting small 20 x 20 cm flower blocks started as a pastime while traveling. Back in South Africa since 2014, her collaboration with The Roseroom at Heldervue Shopping Centre, Somerset West, where she has a regular exhibition of smalls, has sparked a desire to paint flowers on a larger scale.
Her first collection, a floral series titled, Full bloom, will be exhibited at the Ken Forrester winery from mid to end February 2017. Fullbloom is an explorative journey, a real life passion for flowers and interiors that has finally found its place and is coming into full bloom. It depicts the seasons of life, the emotional journeys that led to growth and finally abundant breakthrough.
