This year the 6 weeks of weekend wine tastings are scheduled from the 12th July to the 17th August 2014. There are sixteen different venues participating - with something for everyone, perfect for wine connoisseurs and even those who know nothing about wine but just want a pleasant well-priced outing where one will be treated to great wine tasting in relaxed and welcoming environments.
There are 44 different Wine Estates represented throughout the 16 different venues with over 300 wines to indulge in. Each venue offers tastings of their wines at only R20.00 per venue per person with a minimum of different 8 wines - some venues offer 24 different wines. make it a memorable group outing. Gauteng’s most popular Wine Route discerns itself from all the other Wine Routes in South Africa, in that it has a record number of ways in which you can enjoy this winter wine feast. Be it by vintage car, house boat, luxury cruiser, wine route taxi, speedboat, water-taxi, tour-bus or car - the Vaal River Meander Wine Route has that special something for everyone.
Wine lovers might just want to enjoy a
casual meander in their own car visiting their choice of the sixteen wine
venues or prefer to make use of the many novel transport options. Perhaps joining up with friends and family or
work colleagues to make it a memorable group outing.
The sixteen venues are so diverse and offer
contrasting experiences as do their wines; with the single common thread of
each presenting great South African wines. You might select a venue where you can enjoy eloquently sipping wine at
a classy hotel; or in a cigar lounge; or in front of a roaring fireplace in a
cosy pub; or wine tasting with a bit of trying your hand at Lady Luck; or what
about enjoying wine in a quirky Pub that oozes fun and character; or a Vaal
township experience with live Jazz music - which competes competitively with
Soweto; or wine tasting at a Museum; savouring wine as you cruise aboard a
luxurious Cruiser down Millionaire’s Mile; or wine tasting at sunset on a Boat
House overlooking the Vaal; aboard a House Boat or in a character Wine Cellar.
There are also optional extras to add to
your experience such as enjoying a Cruising Wine Tasting Luncheon aboard a
luxurious Cruiser; Special Spa treatments; Special Weekend Breaks; meandering
in a Vintage Car between the different Wine Tasting Venues; make a weekend of
wine tasting aboard a House Boat as you throw anchor and moor at the different
venues along the Vaal River; spend the weekend at a Lodge or Hotel along the
Vaal while you enjoy the wine and food pairing; enjoy special spa treatments
