South Africa’s leading electric cellist Carol Thorns will be performing her show Red Cello at the Haute Cabriere Pinot Noir Barrel Maturation Cellar.

You can expect a stylish and elegant performance, underlined with amazing visuals, in a breath-taking setting.Together with visualist and architect Alastair Thorns, Carol presents the cello in a contemporary, multi-media context.

The music is based on Carol’s album 'Fireflies in the Rain', which received a South African music award nomination for ‘Best Instrumental Album 2010’.

About Carol Thorns and Red Cello
Red Cello made its successful debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010, the largest arts festival in the world, achieving a 4-star rating and an enthusiastic reception by audiences from around the world.

A Cum Laude Bachelor of Music graduate from Rhodes University in South Africa, Carol has been performing locally and internationally for over a decade: As a soloist, in her ‘Bubble’ or ‘Cellosphere’, and with her band CODA Africa, which blends electric strings with jazz sax, African vocals and a house DJ. She has shared the stage with many of South Africa’s top musicians including Louise Carver, Arno Carstens and the Soweto String Quartet.

In 2013 Carol performed her original cello music in 9 different countries. In 2014 her Afro-Electro group was nominated for an All Africa Music Award for the most promising Artiste in Africa 2014.
