Test your taste buds in Durbs, and fly to the World Wine Tasting Championship in France

Do you have a great palate memory and keen to put your taste buds to the test?

If you have not already entered this year's South African Wine Tasting Championship then you have ONE MORE CHANCE.

The Mercury Wine Week will be home to the last opportunity - but only on the Saturday 29th August from 12 to 3pm.

Wine lovers, sommeliers, bloggers, writers and new-comers - come and test your taste buds - and you could be on your way to France in October with Jean-Vincent Ridon - who will take the SA team to participate in the World Blind Wine Tasting Competition in Champagne.  Certainly worth getting out of bed for!

Competitors will have to taste a short selection of wines from the tables of the wineries attending the show, and then will face the blind challenge, having to identify a number of wines served in anonymous decanters, using their palate memory to find which one is what.

Points will be awarded for cultivar, producer, vintage and region. The highest scorers will become Provincial Champions and will qualify for the South Africa finale in Cape Town in September 2015.

The best national tasters will be selected to be Team South Africa and will win their ticket to France to participate in the World Blind Wine-Tasting Championships in October 2015.

In a spirit to invest in the future of the industry, Restaurant Mosaic will be teaming with the South African Wine Tasting Championship(SAWTC) to identify an emerging talented wine lover and turn the candidate into one of the best sommeliers of South Africa.

The goal is to offer a motivated young wine lover the chance to be properly educated in the art of being a sommelier. He or she will be offered a fully paid internship into the most exciting South African Restaurant.

SAWTC will screen the candidates for their natural wine tasting talent. With the support of the South African Sommeliers Association, the best tasters will be interviewed allowing Restaurant Mosaic to select the lucky young professional who will become one of the best Sommelier of Africa.

Once the Provincial winners are announced, the Top 10 will then participate in the National Finals which are to be held in September (dates & times to be finalised soon)
