Walk to the oldest existing Pinotage vineyard in the world
Join us for a lovely scenic and relaxed walk, departing from the DeWaal Tasting Room at 10h30, through the vineyards for about 1 km and ending at the Top of the Hill vineyard where the oldest Pinotage vineyard block resides. Planted in 1950 by Danie and Coffee de Waal, a maximum of 3 000 bottles are produced from this vineyard annually.

The walk will be guided by owner Pieter de Waal. Many interesting and special stories will be told including the rich history of this working wine farm. The highly acclaimed, award-winning Top of the Hill Pinotage 2013, made from this 65 year old vineyard, will be poured for tasting in the shade under the huge fig tree next to the single vineyard block.

The ideal spot to experience and savour this brilliant wine... the flagship Pinotage wine from DeWaal | The cost is R 50.00 per person.

Cheese platter for two Including a glass of CT DeWaal Pinotage 2013
Our cheese selection for the day will include local cheese highlights and preserves. To complement the different flavours on the platter, we will include a glass of our popular CT de Waal Pinotage 2013. This wine honours CT de Waal, a member of the family, who produced the very first Pinotage wine in 1941.

Cost is R190.00 for two people sharing. Please pre-book to reserve and pay for your platter beforehand.

Comparative tasting of 3 different Pinotages
At DeWaal three different styles of Pinotage are produced, which can be tasted and compared at the Tasting room. It starts with the medium-bodied 2012 Pinotage, to the richer, more complex CT de Waal 2013, and ending off with the highly acclaimed and well-structured Top of the Hill Pinotage 2013 | Cost is R30.00 per person.
