La Motte opens private rose garden to the public for Franschhoek open gardens

Participating in the annual Franschhoek Open Gardens, La Motte Wine Estate will open its private rose gardens to the public during the weekend of 21 to 23 October 2016.

Visitors to Franschhoek Open Gardens and guests to the estate will be invited to enjoy the splendour of an old-fashioned rose garden amongst the romantic ambience of La Motte’s historic buildings. The abundant rose garden hosts 19 types of roses amongst which is the Hybrid Tea rose KORsebue, named after La Motte’s owner and renowned mezzo soprano, Hanneli Rupert.

Planted in a classic and formal style, the rose garden with its fountain and pathways are surrounded by indigenous shrubberies and traditional fruit trees such as quince, pomegranate and figs supplying Pierneef à La Motte restaurant.

Patrons to Pierneef à La Motte restaurant during this weekend can also expect the creative use of roses as an ingredient on the restaurant’s speciality menu, while Hanneli Rupert rose bushes will be for sale from the Farm Shop on the estate.
