The Red Table, situated in Nederburg’s manor house dating from 1800, is gearing up for the spring version of the renowned international culinary concept, Restaurant Week, now in its fifth edition in South Africa.

For 10 days, from 20 to 30 October 2016, expect to feast like a king, with The Red Table set to offer abundant farm cuisine bursting with real country flavour.

A mere R150 buys each guest a refreshing glass of Nederburg Première Cuvée Brut on arrival, a scrumptious main course of braised short rib, zucchini fritters, a mélange of fresh vegetables and pomme purée, served with a glass of Nederburg The Winemasters Cabernet Sauvignon 2014. Expressive, exuberant and delicious, this full-bodied red wine exudes personality and full-blown flavour in every sip. It is bold, ripe and juicy with aromas and tastes of blackcurrants and cherries and notes of vanilla. Dessert will be lime-infused crème brûlée with summer berries, and is also included in the R150 cost per head.

Go to www.restaurantweek.co.za to book your space at The Red Table. Advance reservation is advised.

Whilst at Nederburg, take the opportunity to visit the winery’s modern and comfortable Visitors’ Centre. Here you can taste its multi-tiered range of award-winning wines. In fact, Nederburg just recently earned the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) trophy for the best Cabernet Sauvignon in the world. This honour was bestowed on the 2013 vintage of Nederburg’s Private Bin Cabernet Sauvignon, made for exclusive sale on the annual Nederburg Auction. Although not currently available to the public, a tasting of the winery’s Cabernet Sauvignons from The Winemasters, Manor House and II Centuries collections come highly recommended.
