And so, the seasons are changing. The last mellow days of summer colour the vineyards and the grapes have been harvested. Slowly the leaves are changing from emerald green to hues of yellow, orange and ruby red while the young wine is quietly maturing in barrels of French oak.

But here at the Blaauwklippen Market we buzz! April is the time to spend with family and friends – school holidays, Easter and long weekends. Come join us under the patient, old wild fig trees and rekindle some friendships, recall memories with your relatives and simply relax!

2 APRIL

Don’t miss the monthly Antique Fair, organized by Ms Barbara Collins. Pay a visit to the Carriage Museum where you will find unusual collections of coins, medals and stationary, some exquisite jewellery, unique silverware, ceramics and porcelain. While you are enjoying the gentle sun, Ricky Nass will entertain you with hits from the 80s and 90s. Ricky performs these crowd favourites with enthusiasm and charms all and sundry with his warm voice.

9 APRIL

The change of the seasons herald some shopping for warmer clothes, doesn’t it? Start looking for a cuddly poncho or a pretty, soft scarf for the first chilly days. Wander around and compile your own lunch out of the fare on offer at the food stalls, the selection is big, really big.

Stuart will perform on this Sunday and no doubt entertain our guests as he has done so often in the past.

16 APRIL – EASTER MARKET

Join us for a brisk walk among the autumn vineyards for our Doggie Walk all in aid of AWS of Helderberg. The R20 you will pay for your walk will go towards the society. We thank you, AWS, for your loving care for abandoned dogs and cats. There is no need for our visitors to go home after the walk since Blaauwklippen Family Market is a dog-friendly market. We love having all dogs on leashes!

Not only will we welcome dogs on this Sunday, but the Easter Bunny will be visiting as well.  In order to make the Easter Egg hunt more fair to all the children, especially the little tots, we have decided to have two hunts. The first will take place at 10h30 and the second one at 12h30.

Newton Theron, one of our favourite performers, is back for another unforgettable day of great music! This guy really knows how to get the guests involved.

23 APRIL

We are happy to welcome 24-year-old Lize Mynhardt back at Blaauwklippen Family Market. This remarkable young performer was blessed with perfect pitch and plays the acoustic guitar, as well as 6 (yes 6!) other instruments.

Gifts need never be a headache anymore. Just think out of the box and you will find something quaint and truly special at the market: wonderful bits of bling, steam punk lamps and bonsai trees. African wire art; pottery with Africa designs and baby ware – the choice is yours at the Blaauwklippen Family Market!

30 APRIL

Today we have a very special treat for our guests! Estian Maree plays a bit of everything but mostly acoustic alternative / folk music. His repertoire includes songs from Ed Sheeran, The Lumineers, Jeremy Loops and Mighty Oaks. He says music is his passion and “anything that gets your blood racing, is probably worth doing.”

Need some cushions to brighten up a dull spot in your lounge? Visit Junice for beautifully made cushions, covers and much more in the most beautiful fabrics. Jackets and jumpers; baby boots and slippers; sunglasses (yes, there’s still a glare!) and cuddly warm hats, perfect for winter! See you there!
