Wine Cellar is gearing up to host 2 fun and daring wine tastings by the Movement of Extreme Overberg Winemakers (MEOW), South Africa’s finest new-wave winemakers, on 31 August in Cape Town and on 1 September in Johannesburg at 18h30.

Each of these winemakers was once a ‘Young Gun’, a rising winemaking star whose wines and talent were highlighted 5 years ago by Wine Cellar Director Roland Peens and showcased at one of the annual Wine Cellar Young Guns events. Now Peter-Allan Finlayson, Chris Alheit, John Seccombe and Marelise Niemann, who count among South Africa’s leading winemakers, all make wine together and happen to be great friends.

Extreme, and fond of cats, these like-minded, new-wave winemakers are producing wines from old vines and interesting cultivars. Taste the new releases from Crystallum, Gabriëlskloof, Thorne & Daughters, Momento and Alheit vineyards in an exciting and fun Young Guns-style tasting.

Whether you’re a wine expert, a fan of fine wine or are looking to expand your knowledge and educate your palate, this tasting is sure to be a highlight on your events calendar. Canapés will be served after the seated tasting.

The first Wine Cellar MEOW tasting takes place on 31 August 18h30 at Roodebloem Studios, 27 Roodebloem Street, Woodstock (The Church).

Join the second MEOW tasting on 1 September at 18h30 at Wine Cellar fine wine merchants in Dunkeld, Johannesburg.
