Plaisir de Merle will be hosting its popular Music Under the Stars on 24 February with a light and contemporary opera programme set on the expansive lawns in front of the wine estate’s Manor House.

The exquisite setting will see some of South Africa’s most talented young musicians and singers perform renowned and entertaining duets, ensembles and arias. The spectacular performances of this beautifully styled programme are curated, directed and accompanied by Dr Lisa Engelbrecht. The beautiful voices of UCT Opera School graduates will include the sopranos, Brittany Smith and Moloko Letsoalo, tenor Bongani Makhanya,  and baritone Luvuyo Mbundu.

The programme entitled "Summertime: Song under the Stars" is a selection of arias and ensembles from popular and well-loved opera, operetta and musicals including George Gershwin's  beautiful "Summertime" from "Porgy and Bess", and "Belle Nuit" Barcarolle from the Tales of Hoffmann.

Tickets are available from Webtickets and cost R150 per person. Entry for Under 18’s is free of charge.

Bring your own picnic or pre-order a spread for two, which includes two stemless wine glasses but excludes wine, at R350. Bookings to be made before 17 February from info@plaisirdemerle.co.za

Plaisir de Merle’s wines will be on sale and guests are not permitted to bring their own alcohol.
