From Cape Town, N1:
  • Take Exit 47 - Stellenbosch/Wellington/Klapmuts turnoff
  • Turn right onto the R44 at the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp
  • Continue about 250 metres to a 4-way stop and cross straight
  • Continue about another 200 metres
  • Take the first road to the left at the sign post "Franschhoek R45"
  • Continue along this road until a T-junction at Simondium
  • Turn right towards Franschhoek (still the R45) - this road becomes the main road of Franschhoek
  • Drive straight through Franschhoek until you reach a T-junction in front of the Hugenuot Memorial (3 large granite arches with a statue in front of them)
  • Turn left towards the mountainpass
  • Haute Cabrière is approximately 1.5km up the pass road on the left hand side
