Muratie Ansela van de Caab 2009
On the nose you get a lot of concentrated fruit flavours ranging from dark fruit to lighter red fruit. The Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine a structured backbone and the nose follows through elegantly on the palate. The Cabernet Franc combines the big structured Cabernet flavours with the upfront fruit flavours of the Merlot. The palate is very concentrated with an abundance of flavours varying from intense fruit flavours to cigar box nuiances. The flavours and tannins are meticulously woven together to form a totally balanced wine that lingers on in your mouth long after the last drop is savoured.

The wine is an intense red with a violet edge. The nose displays a combination of floral and berry notes supported by a sweet spiciness. The palate shows huge amounts of ripe tannins with green peppercorns and venison which structure the wine and compliment the fruit. This adds longevity to the wine with a vanilla, crème brûlée aftertaste.

Still very young and closed. this wine shows typical black pepper flavours, a lot of savoury tones, with hints of leather and cigar boxes, as well as some floral notes on the nose. These flavours follow through nicely in the palate and the wine shows great depth. Layer upon layer is uncovered as you go from drinking this huge wine to enjoying its fabulous aftertaste. This wine has definitely not reached its peak yet but is showing great potential.
