Avontuur Wine Estate and Restaurant is proud to participate in the second "Taste of the Helderberg" Wine Festival at the NH Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West on Thursday, 7 June from 17h00 to 21h00.
After chatting to winemaker Jan van Rooyen, it was decided to offer wines best suited to the cold winter weather expected on the night and therefore the 10 year old Brandy will be for tasting in little dark chocolate cups at a small fee – combined with a selection of other wines obviously.

The restaurant is preparing portions of their popular salmon roses with wasabi mayo and caviar sprinkles which will be for sale at their stand next to the winery’s and Zunia and Melanie, our well-known foodie team, will be on hand to make sure the tummies are full!

Tickets cost a mere R50 for which festival goers receive an elegant wine glass branded with the Helderberg Wine Route logo, and have the opportunity to taste the wines on show. Chefs will prepare small portions of their signature dishes to sell to patrons during the show.

Organised by the Helderberg Wine Route, the event will showcase 26 wineries and six restaurants.

Participating wineries and restaurants are: Annandale Wines, Avontuur Estate and Restaurant, Bilton Wines, Croydon Wine Company, Eikendal Vineyards, Ernie Els Wines, Grangehurst Winery, Helderberg Wijnmakerij, Hidden Valley Wines and Overture Restaurant, JP Bredell, Ken Forrester Vineyards and 96 Winery Rd Restaurant, Longridge and Johan’s Restaurant, Lourensford, Lyngrove Wines and Vineyards, Miravel, Morgenster Wine and Olive Estate and Sofia’s Restaurant, Peter Falke Wines, Post House, Ridgemor Wines, Romond, Somerbosch Wines, Stonewall Wines, Uva Mira Vineyards, Vergenoegd Wine Estate and Pomegranate Restaurant, Waterkloof, Yonder Hill.
