Plaisir de Merle Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 was awarded a gold medal at the 2012 Sélections Mondiales des Vins in Quebec, Canada and was one of only 13 South African wines to bring home gold.
This event, considered to be one of the most important and prestigious wine competitions in North America, drew 1806 entries from 581 different producers from 35 countries. These were evaluated by international juries whose members are recognised for their competence, integrity and independence.

Plaisir de Merle’s Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the farm’s most popular wines with a worldwide following. It has previously met with great favour at international competitions such as the Mindus Vini in Germany, the Swiss International Awards, the Gastronomie de Quebec, the Decanter Wine Awards, the Wine and Spirit Asia Challenge and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.

Plaisir de Merle Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 was made from grapes harvested from four different vineyards and all vinified separately. Cellarmaster Niel Bester then made his final selection, and to support his winning style, added a touch of Merlot and Shiraz (6%) and just 2% Petit Verdot to perfect the blend.

It’s a gentle red wine with great charm - lots of red berry fruit, spice cedar and vanilla oak flavours on the nose, with dark chocolate and ripe fruit backed by spice and soft tannins on the palate.
