Morgenster Estate in Somerset West is situated in the heart of the Western Cape wine-growing region. It is a thriving olive and wine farm, producing Bordeaux-style wines and award-winning extra virgin olive oil and olive products.

Morgenster vineyard specialises in four red wine cultivars and their forte is blending. More recently, this Cape winery has planted small quantities of two Italian varieties, Nebbiolo and Sangiovese.

On arrival on the farm, follow the brick road to the Revel Fox designed Tasting Room situated in on the banks of a lovely reed lined dam. Bird life abounds and grey herons in flight silhouette against the majestic Helderberg mountain.

Comfortable seating on the vine covered veranda offers an excuse to linger a little longer and take it all in. Inside guests are seated at the “monks table” where you are lead through the olive oil tasting, coaxing you to sip the oil and test the acidity. Cooking tips are shared, oil and food pairings discussed and anticipation runs high as the award winning wines are poured into the glasses.
