De Krans Wine Cellar
What better way to enjoy the splendid South African summer sunsets than with a chilled glass of De Krans Pink Port. Made in a unique style to cater for the needs of its consumer, this distinctive port is the perfect sun downer drink to sip and savour during the warmer spring and summer evenings.
Launched in early 2008, the first of its kind, the De Krans Pink Port is made from traditional port varieties Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barocca and Souzão, where the grapes were allowed only a few hours’ skin contact and the juice then cool-fermented for approximately five days before fortification with unmatured brandy spirit. The result is a port with a beautiful vibrant blush colour, rich ripe flavours of fresh red berries and a long, lingering aftertaste.

This new style of port, bottled in a frosted 375ml bottle, available at most retail outlets nationwide and retailing for approximately R45 aimed at all port lovers, awakens their senses to the wonderful freshness and flavour spectrum throughout the year. A previous gold medal winner at the 2009 Michelangelo Awards this port is best enjoyed chilled, or on crushed ice in summer as an aperitif, or served with nuts and olives. In the cooler months it is best enjoyed at room temperature with olives, nuts or any pâté of your choice. Freezing the grapes and using them as decorative ice cubes when serving the chilled Pink Port to your guests, has also become a popular talking point amongst its admirers.

De Krans Wine Cellar is situated along the upper reaches of the picturesque Gamka River Valley near Calitzdorp, in the heart of the Little Karoo. The present owners and cellar masters are brothers Boets and Stroebel Nel.
