Seduction Pinot Noir
La Vierge - Seduction Pinot Noir Joins The Collection
26 October 2012 by La Vierge
As Eve offered Adam the forbidden fruit, she became the first seductress and he the first to experience seduction.
La Vierge, nestled amidst the cool climate rolling mountains of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in the outskirts of Hermanus, is one of the main premium Pinot Noir producers in SA. With close to 18ha dedicated to this prime cultivar, Pinot Noir is the main focus at this private cellar. Their flagship wine is the award-winning La Vierge Noir, which reflects the premium quality of their blocks crafted into wine for connoisseurs. La Vierge is now releasing their Seduction Pinot Noir 2012, crafted to seduce the inquisitive minded wine lover into this elegant, feminine and sometimes elusive cultivar.
“Younger vines are used for this fruit-driven Seduction Pinot Noir 2012 wine, which is allowed to mature and age in French oak barrels for a period of five months. More accessible for day to day enjoyment, Seduction is a perfect choice when introducing Pinot Noir into your repertoire”, says Uschi van Zweel, General Manager of La Vierge. “Pinot Noir is all about carefully selecting clones most suited to the area, and following the Burgundian tradition of planting vines very close to one another, resulting in small crop loads, small clusters with tiny berried bunches that have intense flavours”.
Seduction has a clear, bright red hue with a purple tint and delivers ripe succulent raspberries and cherries with a warm spiciness to the nose. On the palate the wine offers seduction folded in waves of red fruit and savoury enticement.
Other wines in the luxurious collection also portrays the Garden of Eden theme with names and styles suggesting a lush paradise intertwined with purity, simplicity, innocence and temptation. The white wine stable offers a crisp Original Sin Sauvignon Blanc, a full bodied Jezebelle Chardonnay and The Last Temptation Riesling. The red blends on offer include a fruity Shiraz/Mouvedre, referred to as the Anthelia, a Bordeaux blend known as Nymphomane and an Italian Blend, Satyricon.
“Make good times with friends even better and enjoy Seduction with tapas snacks, cheese and light meals. Serve slightly chilled to reveal her true delicate nature”, concludes van Zweel. Seduction is available for purchase online at www.lavierge.co.za and at certain wine grocers and retailers.
