Avontuur
Substantial renovations over a two month period resulted in a brand-new, enlarged and modernised tasting room at this wine estate, owned by the Taberer family. The winery falls within the highly regarded Stellenbosch region, and is right next to the R44, against the Helderberg mountain overlooking False Bay and Cape Point.

“We decided at the end of the 2013 season, to invest in the upgrading of the tasting facility at the Estate as a sign of our commitment to the wine industry in general, wine tourism in our area and Avontuur’s wines specifically,” says Michael Taberer.

“Procuring enough seating for formal tastings and even just during season for our ever-growing number of visitors, has always been a problem,” Michael explains. “Although the outdoor seating is popular, the new venue admirably offers more flexible hosting opportunities ranging from formal seating at tables to comfy couches and arm chairs.”

Tourists, small tour groups and locals are welcome to enjoy various tasting options including “Tease your Taste Buds” which is a sit-down pairing of 5 wines and specific flavours, or the Red Wine & Biltong Pairing, both @ R50 pp. Cellar tours and Farm Walks are available on request. Specialised food & wine pairings and monthly special offers and events are popular options.

The tasting room at Avontuur Estate is open daily, except on Good Friday and Christmas Day and can host small and large groups of up to 24. The hours are: Mon-Fri 08h30-17h00, Sat & Sun, 09h00-16h00. The tasting fee is R30 for 5 wines and various specialised tastings are offered.
