Nederburg
Eat Out Nederburg Rising Star, chef Kobus van der Merwe of Oep ve Koep restaurant in Paternoster on the West Coast, recently hosted a magical discovery of tastes with Nederburg Wines’ gourmet Heritage Heroes range and popular supper club Secret Eats.

The experience commenced with a sunset nature walk at Tietiesbaai, close to Paternoster, with chef Kobus showing guests the coastal vegetation he included in his authentic West Coast menu that featured the freshest of seafood and seasonal Strandveld ingredients.

The feast began with “West Coast oyster in its element”, paired with Nederburg’s aromatic Gewürztraminer from the 2012 vintage, named The Beautiful Lady. This was followed by Maasbanker bokkom, peach and kelp, perfectly matched with The Anchorman Chenin Blanc 2012. Yellowtail, salvia-smoked tomato and summer succulents took everyone’s breath away, especially enjoyed with The Young Airhawk 2012, a wooded Sauvignon blanc. Bordeaux-style The Brew Master 2010 was matched with a mosselbobotie and the meal concluded with a light, elegant Gewürztraminer sabajonie.
