De Wetshof
This year De Wetshof is going all out to spoil Wacky Wine Week-enders visiting this iconic wine cellar during this now legendary Weekend in the Robertson Valley from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 June with a memorable food and wine experience on the expansive lawns of the Estate.

The Estate will be open for wine-tasting on the following days: Thursday 08:30 to 17:00, Friday 08:30 to 18:00, Saturday 08:30 to 18:00 and Sunday 08:30 to 16:00.

Mimosa Bistro at De Wetshof

Be prepared to be wooed by award-winning chef Bernhard Hess at the Mimosa Bistro on De Wetshof. Hess’s culinary talent, an institution at the Wacky Wine Week-end, is once again sure to culminate in mouth-watering meals.

The impressive menu starts with fresh oysters, provided by the well-known Wild Peacock Deli, followed by a hearty barley soup and a trio of spring rolls offering prawn, vegetable and chicken.

The more substantial dishes include yellowfin tuna steaks; expertly grilled to capture the natural juices and flavour of this sought after fish. Those who favour red meat can order char-grilled beef fillet beef or steak tartare in starter as well as main portions. Both the tuna and beef will be served with potato chips and seasonal vegetables. Other dishes include home-made gnocchi with porcini as well as a hearty gemsbok curry with rice and sambals. And to end, a decadent crème brûlée.

Mimosa Trading Hours: Friday 12:00 to 18:00, Saturday 09:30 to 18:00, Sunday 09:30 to 16:00. Bookings: 023 614 2351

Wine tastings

If you’d simply love to attend one of De Wetshof’s popular wine tastings in the vat cellar you’ll have to book now – each tasting session accommodates only 20 people. These sessions will take place at 11:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

Johann de Wet will discuss De Wetshof’s well-known Chardonnay wine range and the De Wet family has unearthed a few exceptional bottles from their private vinoteque which they will share during these tastings.

If you crave still more wine knowledge about the Robertson Wine Valley in particular, attend one of the talks by the Cape Wine Academy taking place at De Wetshof on Friday and Saturday. During each session a different grape variety will be discussed and the special characteristics derived from the Robertson terroir will be highlighted by various experts.

There will be sessions on Friday: Bubbly of the Valley (16:00) and Saturday – Chardonnay (10:00), Cabernet Sauvignon (12:00) and Shiraz (14:00). Bookings: +27.21 889 8844.
